We have been learning about Rosa Parks in Topic.

Rosa Parks changed the world by just saying no.

She got arrested because she said no to a white person on a Montgomery bus.  LR and AA wouldn't have been at the same school if it wasn't for Rosa Parks!  She died when she was 92.

In Literacy we have been learning about Biscuit Bear and we made our own recipes.  We read the book and did lots of work about Biscuit Bear.

In Maths we did a lot of tests!

Willows by EB and MS

admin on: Willows

In Maths we have been doing lots of challenges about sport.  One of the challenges was working out how many points were scored in basketball.

Literacy has been all about the Hodgeheg by Dick King-Smith.

First we had to write instructions of how to cross the road because the hodgeheg doesn't know how to.

We also had to predict what was going to happen in the story before Miss Sabetti read it all.

We have been learning all about the Great Barrier Reef in Topic.  Did you know it is in Australia and it massive? It is made up of all different coloured corals.  We made our own Great Barrier Reef in Art by doing a collage.  We used lots and lots of different things including pom poms, sand, pipe cleaners, felt and paper.

Week 7 in Willows

admin on: Willows

This week in Willows we have become reporter when we have made our own newspaper article about the effect of our medicines on poor old Grandma in George’s Marvellous Medicine.

We have been getting covered in disgusting ingredients when we had fun making our own marvellous medicine earlier this week putting in things like spaghetti (to be worms) and pickled onions (to be eyeballs).

In maths we have looked at estimation. We have thought about realistic guesses and different techniques we can use to estimate to make sure our estimation is as close to the answer as possible.

In ICT we have begun to make our photo collages, they are looking good but we still have lots of photos to add to it. Watch this space…

A very different week in Willows

admin on: Willows

This week in Willows we have had a very different week. We have learnt all about road safety. We had special visitors in telling us all about The Green Cross Code and how we need to STOP, LOOK, LISTEN AND THINK before we cross a road. We have also started thinking about ideas for our own class assembly about road safety.

In ICT we have looked at internet safety, thinking about what is safe and unsafe to do when surfing or playing on the internet.

In maths we have looked at addition and subtraction further and how we can solve word problems once we have found what the question is asking us to do.

In Literacy we have begun to think about what disgusting things we may put into George’s marvellous medicine. Wait until we create them next week…

Week 4 2017-18

admin on: Willows

In Willows class this week we have been looking at healthy eating in science and what makes a balanced diet. We have looked at foods we should eat lots of like fruit and vegetables and food we should only have as a treat likes sweets and crisps!

We have read more of The Twits in literacy and even got round to writing our own chapter of the book called “The Monkeys Revenge”.

In maths we have looked at addition and subtraction and how we can partition numbers to help us work out the calculations easier.

In topic we are learning about the Victorians this half term and this week we have looked at Victorian homes and compared what we have today inside our homes to what they had inside their homes. We learnt lots of new key words such as a mangle.

What a fun week!

admin on: Willows

Just a quick update from Willows. We have had another hard working week in our class! We have met a new character called Beegu who is a little, sad alien from Space who has crash landed on our planet. We have written a recount of her week as well as a character description using expanded noun phrases in English. In Maths we have been looking at 2D and 3D shapes and we have used their properties to describe them. In Science we have enjoyed doing our messy experiment for Science week and we have loved 'catching a rainbow'. What a fun but busy week we have had this week!
Keep checking here to find out what other fun we get up to next week!
